Leigh Goldie
Leigh Goldie is the founder and President of Global Interactive Learning. She obtained a Masters Degree in Education from John Carroll University and was a fifth grade Language Arts and Social Studies Teacher in the Orange City Schools, a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. She and her husband, David, have two children.
Leigh enjoys traveling, photography, and keeping in touch with family and friends. She combined all of these activites and more to create Global Interactive Learning’s first venture: Family Mappers.Â
Her love of travel began when she took her first trip overseas to Israel at age 16. She discovered how different cultures are around the world.   Each place has different customs and traditions and they are all exciting to learn about.Â
She served as a Delegation Leader for People to People International when she accompanied 37 fifth and sixth grade students for two weeks to Great Britain in 2000. She realized that personal experiences are life’s best teacher. The students she accompanied were able to learn because they could make a personal connection with their learning. For example, visiting the Tower of London allowed each of the Ambassadors to connect with the history of Henry VIII.  Family Mappers was created with that learning in mind. The goal of Family Mappers is to make learning fun and engaging for all students anywhere in the world.Â
